Castañer
Castañer is widely considered the top maker of espadrilles in its home country of Spain. The brand specializes in making the rope and canvas shoes of every shape and size, from platforms and slip-ons to ankle wraps and racers. They are also recognized for their superior quality.
The shoes have long been a favorite among fashion elites, lining the shelves of small Spanish and French boutiques. Fans of the brand are drawn to the label’s intelligent designs and bold use of color. Castañer espadrilles have been included recently in high-fashion mags ELLE, Vogue and Cosmopolitan.
The Castañer name is steeped in tradition. The company as it is known today was founded in 1927 by Luis Castañer and his cousin Tomas Serra. However, the family business of producing and selling alpargatero (canvas shoes) stretches all of the way back to Rafael Castañer in 1776.
