Latico
Latico began when young Paul, a recent college grad, started selling his personally made leather goods door-to-boutique door in New York City. The bags tended to reflect Paul’s own personality, characterized by a mellow, laid-back comfort. His leather products were a hit among Greenwich Village specialty boutiques, and were even popularized by rock musicians such as the Grateful Dead.
A few years later, as Paul says, a “downtown boy meets uptown girl and… beautiful bags are born.” That uptown girl was Lainie, who would eventually be the one to launch the Latico women’s fashion accessory collection. Together the lovebirds began making handbags with creative components such as Italian “retro-upholstery” leather and innovative organizational interiors.
Latico customers swear by the bags, swooning for their diverse styles. The company has garnered much attention for their designs and has been contracted by “bigger” names to create bags for wholesale. However, Paul and Lainie promise never to forget their boutique roots. Good news for Lori!
