The original. UGG was started in the late 70s by Australian surfer Brian Smith, who was determined to bring a piece of the world “down under” to the United States. So with a few great sheepskin boots in hand, Smith left for New York.

At first, he was unsuccessful. But fortunately for us, Smith was stubborn. So he instead toted his sheepskin footwear to the coast of California where he found other worldly surfers with the same boots. Voila, Smith had found his UGG market.

Since then the desire for the boots has spread, recently capturing the attention numerous A-listers. Many celebrities- from Kate Hudson to Oprah Winfrey- have been spotted strolling the streets of Hollywood in their UGGs.
