What I'm Packing: Tricks of the (Travel) Trade
Needless to say, we all get giddy before a vacation. But packing for it? That's a different story. I'm headed to Morocco and showing you some of my favorite vaca looks and tips for traveling that I've picked up along the way. Morocco is a vibrant, cultural destination, and you can bet I will be preparing accordingly.
I always say pack what's neutral. When it comes to shoes, the pairs that will make it in my suitcase are minimal, lightweight and go with anything. The Yale in pewter by Chocolat Blu is awesome not only because it's comfortable for walking, but because any metallic offers a ton of versatility. Also important: I can pair them with joggers which is always a selling point for me.
Fabio Rusconi Flat Gladiator with Velvet Tie
This flat sandal by Fabio Rusconi is truly one of my favorites this season. It's simple but feminine, and I get super excited tying that velvet lace up my leg for a chic look day or night. Plus, they'll work with anything from white cut-off denim to a flowing caftan with my favorite sunnies and a rattan purse.
If you know me, you know I live in my Birks. Traveling is exhausting no matter your destination, and I never regret wearing these babies on the airplane - or anywhere else for that matter. If I'm being realistic about what I'll actually wear while I'm away (which is so important!), Birkenstocks are at the top of my list, and the Gizeh in white patent has a fashion edge without being over the top.
Typically, you'll find me in neutral colors, but right now I am so into yellow. Yellow stands for freshness, positivity, clarity, energy, enlightenment, and joy - a much needed relief from these gray days in Chicago. Dolce Vita's Kaira has a manageable heel, and the fun pop of color helps me mix things up.
Fabio Rusconi Kitten Heel with Bow
Rule: Never wear a shoe for the first time on vacation. I've learned this one the hard way. So, I'm already breaking in this kitten heel mule from Fabio Rusconi; a quiet sophisticated slip-on that makes me so happy, even though I have yet to wear them outside of my house! Simple lines but sexy in presentation, it's my go-to for dinner or late-night cocktails.
Gioseppo Slip-on Pointed Toe Flat
Classic with a modern twist, the Slip-on Pointed Toe Flat is queen of versatility, not only because it glitters in gold, but because the soft leather in back let's me wear it as a mule when the mood strikes me. Easy on and off, but festive and fashionable with a stylish high cut vamp and a rubber sole for extra comfort.
Cross Band Platform Espadrille
Fabulous Fabiolas! The Crossband Platform Espadrill is set on a timeless jute sole that gets me itching for warm weather. A platform is a great choice for a little bit of height without having to wear heels. With an adjustable slingback strap, I don't have to worry about fit - just about relaxing and having a good time with my friends and my hubby. I see myself living in these through my vacation and all summer long.

On May 01, 2018Don’t miss the Yves St. Laurent museum in Marrakech! The Majorelle Gardens can be missed so don’t worry if you don’t have time. The food is delicious – the orange slices with cinnamon and powdered sugar are terrific as are all the tagines. Jealous!! I’ve been twice and would return tomorrow.
